WHAT DOES THE WORSHIP MINISTRY DO?
As the Worship Ministry of Christ Fellowship Church, our desire is to utilize the artistic gifts represented in our congregation for the glory of God and the building up of the body of Christ. In all that we do, we seek to “serve the LORD with gladness,” (Psalm 100:2) faithfully stewarding the gifts He has given us. Our primary focus is preparing for and leading in our weekly worship services. We work in collaboration with our senior pastor, as well as other staff members, elders, and volunteers, to promote artistic excellence and proclaim the gospel of Christ.

WHAT ARE THE WORSHIP MINISTRY'S VALUES?
We have four guiding principles, or core values, that underlie our worship services. We find these principles most helpful as we, in view of His mercy, weekly render service unto our God.

  1. God-Centered - We are daily confronted with temptations to exalt ourselves, the created, above our God, the Creator, who alone is worthy of exaltation. This is why, as we gather together, we must be reminded that God is at the center our worship. To that end, we gather together each Sunday to glorify God by exalting Christ in the power of the Spirit (Hebrews 10:1-25).
  2. Edifying - As we meet corporately to glorify God, we also encourage one another with gospel truths. Our desire is to edify each other by reminding our selves and those around us of the gospel and how it sustains us in everyday life. (Ephesians 5:15-21; Colossians 3:12-17)
  3. Biblical - God's Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:103-105) and is the foundation upon which our services are built. As such, we read the Word, preach the Word, pray the Word, sing the Word, and see the Word through baptism and communion.
  4. Intelligible - As we honor the past in our worship, we also reflect modern times and contexts. Though our services are certainly not driven by nuances in our culture, they are filled with people who represent a certain time and context in history. Our desire is for our songs, prayers, and sermons to accurately represent the cultures around us.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
There are many ways to get plugged in and serve with our Worship Ministry, as we encourage and employ a wide range of gifts and skills. Maybe you sing, play an instrument, or have experience with sound equipment. If you are interested in using your gifts in this way or would like more information about our Worship Ministry, contact Will Mitchell at wmitchell@cfcbirmingham.org.
