WHAT ARE GROWTH GROUPS FOR AT CHRIST FELLOWSHIP CHURCH?
Growth groups are intended to facilitate growth in Christ-likeness, growth in Christ-centered relationships, and growth in Christ’s Kingdom.

•Eating with one another occasionally
•Giving to one another sacrificially
•Meeting with one another individually

HOW ARE GROWTH GROUPS ARRANGED?
Intergenerational: As much as we are able, it is our hope that our Growth Groups have a range of ages and life stages represented. We believe that much wisdom and perspective can be transferred among those from different walks of life. Paul encourages older men to train younger men and for older women to train younger women (Titus 2). We believe an intergenerational approach facilitates this biblical pattern.

Diverse: Again, as much as we are able, it is our hope that our groups would display diversity in a variety of ways. Our belief is that the gospel is best displayed when diverse people are unified by their fellowship in the gospel more than any other uniting factor.

Geographically Based: Our aim is to have CFC members in Growth Groups with others from their neighborhood or area of town. This helps to diversify our groups and facilitates a community mindset among the group.

HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT GROWTH GROUPS?
If you would like to visit a Growth Group, talk to one of our Growth Group leaders or email Billy Shepard at bshepard@cfcbirmingham.org for more information.

HOW OFTEN DO GROWTH GROUPS MEET?
We intend for our Growth Groups to meet on a weekly basis. Meetings will typically be one to two hours in length. Every weekly meeting may not necessarily involve prayer or Bible study strictly, as some weeks may be set aside for fellowship over food or spent in some capacity of ministry together as a group. However, we do believe that it is necessary for members to devote time on a weekly basis to foster gospel-centered community with each other. As a result, we are committed to spending time together on a weekly basis if possible.

ARE GROWTH GROUPS MANDATORY FOR MEMBERS?
No, we don’t require Growth Group participation as a condition of membership. At the same time, we think it’s helpful for believers to be joined to a group of fellow believers to best grow as disciples of Jesus. Growth Groups help provide needed accountability to one another and consistent encouragement from Christ and His gospel. So, while we do not require Growth Growth participation for membership, we would strongly encourage it for all members.

CAN NON-MEMBERS JOIN GROWTH GROUPS?
While Growth Groups are intended primarily for our members, we do allow non-members to occasionally visit our groups. If you are not a member of a gospel-preaching church, we hope that becoming involved in one of our Growth Groups will lead you to seriously consider membership at Christ Fellowship Church. We believe that all believers ought to be accountable to a church body through membership.

IS CHILDCARE PROVIDED FOR GROWTH GROUPS?
Yes. While not every Growth Group currently has need of childcare, each group that does have need works together to provide childcare. This takes on different forms for different groups, as is necessary. But we do not expect members to find their own means of childcare for their own children on a weekly basis.
